Hagusa: OK, enough of this coat...from now on, I'm going to go around in a bikini! *takes hold of her coat collar*

Nosedive, Wildwing and Duke: *fall in a heap leaning over to see*

Hagusa: April Fool! *eyes twinkle as she pulls her coat closer around herself*

Here we go with another DWD mystery
In the episode "Heavy Mental", Maj. Synpase turns into a gigantic brain when zapped by the Norma Ray. But this didn't happen to Launchpad or the two teenagers the ray was also used on. Why not? I think it's because the ray must affect a person differently when they use it on themselves, rather than someone else operating it. Sort of like the difference between tickling yourself and being tickled by another person.

Roll up
No sense in having a journal if I don't post in it, ne?

Today was a routine day. My sister didn't come in for a visit this evening since she took her students to a hockey game. That's unfortunate because we usually run around town doing errands and buying junk food. ^_^

I've been listening to the Beatles' album "Blue Album" since I got it at the library Friday. I have to buy a copy for myself, it's a really good CD.

Smurfin'
The Smurfs are 50 years old! WHEE!

Hagusa: It's Smurftacular! *pulls handfuls of Smurf figurines from her coat pocket and tosses them around* Do you suppose there was an Ugly Smurf?

Oh, Canada...
I just wanted to get this off my chest.

It really bugs me how the media here in Canada likes to portray this country as paradise on Earth and that we're living right next door to Hell. I'm referring to an article in our local paper today that discussed what's called "taser parties." The last line of the article says "Let's leave the hawking of dangerous weapons to our neighbors to the south."

Excuse me...that was a completely unnecessary remark. And on the front page of the very same paper
is a headline about a youth being stabbed near a local shopping mall. Guess what...we have dangerous weapons in Canada too, it seems. That's what I mean when I say a lot of Canadians look at this country as being perfect and childishly point fingers and take cheap shots at the US.

So I'd like to apologize to my online American friends for the atitude that unfortunately is all too common up here. Canada is 140 years old, but it seems we still have a lot of growing up to do.

Never mind, I figured it out. I wasn't letting the page load fully to display the songs. *slaps self in head* I'm a dope.

I'm trying to add a song to my MySpace profile. But when I click on the genre of music I want, then the artist, it just shows thier MySpace page. Where do I find the songs?

Stealing the Grinch
This is really nitpicky, but I was watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas tonight and noticed something different. At the end of the show, when the narration stops and it pans up past the mountains, and the words "The End" appear on the screen, you used to hear a chorus of voices. When I watched it tonight, it was just music. I wish they hadn't changed it. I realize it's a very minor thing, and as I said very nitpicky, but why can't these classic specials be left alone, just as they were first broadcast. Forget "remastering" and high tech for some things.

Just my two cents.

Ridiculous
I had some doubts that the whole Christmas thing starts too early, but they vanished when I looked in my local TV listings and saw that "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is airing on Tuesday.

Don't get me wrong, I love ACBC but can't we at least wait until December?

Maybe they want to get the old classics out of the way so they can fill Dec. with new junk. :P

The long journey over
Finally, I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I know I'm probably the last HP fan on the planet to finish the book, it just came into the library last week. It was very good, as I expected it to be. Ms. Rowling has delivered with every book in the series. There are some things in the book that I wish had gone differently, but it was still an excellent story and a good wrap up.

I also liked her dedication to those who have stuck with the story all the way to the end. I hate to think it's the end for Harry, but I guess we have two more movies yet to go. ^_^

Plantstar
A parody of "Rockstar" by Nickelback with a Bushroot theme.

I'm through with standing in line
to places I'll never get in
It's like the bottom of the compost
and I'm never gonna win
My life hasn't turned out
quite the way I want it to be

I want a brand new garden
on an episode of Dark(wing)
And a greenhouse I can play baseball in
And a king size tub big enough
for ten trees plus me

I'll need a plant nursery card that's got no limit
And a big redwood with a bedroom in it
Gonna join the mile high club
At 330 feet

I want a new pickup truck full of old fertilizer
My own star on St. Canard Boulevard
Somewhere between Negaduck and
Steelbeak is fine for me

I'm gonna trade my old life for plant power fame
I'd even prune my hair and change my name

[CHORUS]
'Cause we all just wanna be big plant stars
And live in big greenhouses driving hydrogen cars
The posies come easy and the fertilizer comes cheap
I'll stay skinny 'cause I don't need to eat
And we'll hang out in the nature bars
In the VIP with the botanical stars
Every good rhodendron's
Gonna wind up there
Every flower and bush
Without bleached blond hair

Hey hey I wanna be a plantstar
Hey hey I wanna be a plantstar

I wanna be great like Darkwing without the hassles
Hire eight Douglas firs that love to beat up assholes
Sign a couple autographs
So I can drink my water for free

I think I'm gonna dress my petals
with the latest fashion
Get a front door key to the Plantworld mansion
Gonna date a petunia that loves to
blow my money for me

(repeat chorus)

And we'll hide out in the greenhouse rooms
With the latest garden guide and
the botanical who's who
They'll get you anything
with that innocent smile
Everybody's got a
florist on speed dial
Hey hey I wanna be a plantstar
Hey hey I wanna be a plantstar

I'm gonna grow those plants
that offend the censors
Gonna pop my nutrients
from a pez dispenser
When they ask why I grow plants all day
I'll say because I can

I'll get washed-up superheroes trimming all my trees
Inspect them every night so they don't get 'em wrong
Then listen to my plants tell me how darn good I am

(repeat chorus)

Thoughts
I've been lucky this past week at work. On Monday and Tuesday, I volunteered to go home early and was approved both days...on Monday it was just 16 minutes into my shift! I tried again on Saturday but no dice. I wasn't surprised not to get it Saturday though.

I'm a little bugged at Neopets. My favorite game to play there was Ultimate Bullseye, but now they have a new version of the game. I don't mind this, but you can't play the old one anymore, at least not for points. I wish the old one had been left in as a game you can earn Neopoints on.

*grumbles* I had a submarine sandwich in the fridge, was looking forward to it but some of the vegetables on it froze in our old refrigerator. I microwaved the hell out of it, but it ended up looking so gross I threw the whole thing away. I think we need a new fridge.

Ciao for now!

The new avian couple
I had a dream last night that included Fenton Crackshell and Magica de Spell of all people. Maybe they'd make a good couple. Or a good fanfic...

At least they don't have time to be bored
Eric: Would you like coffee or tea, Blue?

Aardvark: Coffee...I don't like tea! If there's one thing I don't like, it's tea!

Bushroot: It's very relaxing. *sips his own herbal tea*

Aardvark: Fine...you relax. I'll drink coffee...and have some chocolate covered ants! *takes a box from inside his shirt and tips some on the table!* Yummy!

Bushroot: Ewg...

Aardvark: This coming from a guy who eats fertilizer. Give me a break!

Eric: I was going to have something to eat...maybe not...

Interesting site
I happened upon this site, which shows famous works of art with Disney characters, mostly ducks, with some Mickey/Minnie and Goofy here and there. It's in German, click on the numbered links on the bottom. I liked the Nefertiti statue in the first group of art.

It finally happened
Barry Bonds has broken the all time home run record. In a way I'm relieved it's all over, even though baseball is not my favorite sport. The whole steroid issue aside, I wish a nicer person had broken the record.

Messing with memories of my youth
I see they're coming out with an Underdog movie. Sounds good. However, I'm less than impressed with the fact it's going to be live action. I really think it would look much better animated or done in CGI.

Probably I'm biased because I remember the animated version on TV, and maybe I shouldn't judge before actually seeing the movie. But just from a first impression I've seen on the ads, I'd prefer fully animated.
